Age is just a number? - How Old do you have to be to Rent an Airbnb

According to Airbnb's terms of service you must be 18 or older to book as a guest or a traveler on their platform. However, for a lot of hosts if you are between the ripe young age of 18 to 25 we might categorically pass on the opportunity to take your money. Yes, it's ageism.

Landing a Booking age the of 18 - 25

Personally, I'm hesitant towards someone who is between the age of 18 to 25 staying in my place. It's just seems like a bad idea at my age and knowing that Airbnb doesn't necessary make good on their AirCover policy if there is a major party foul up in my place - my tendency is to pass on this.

However I do believe it should be a choice for hosts and an option for responsible young folks. As hosts, we know that not all young people are party animals looking to recreate a scene from American Pie. I personally look at this situation like car insurance companies – the younger you are, the more it will cost you to have access to my place.

So, if you want a host to seriously consider your booking, you have to make it worth our while. That most certainly is in the form of a deposit. Of course this doesn't guarantee that you will get a booking, but it will definitely soften us up to the idea. Someone, has to take responsibility if things get out of control and it's not going to be our pocketbooks.

So how can you, a responsible young person book? You can try to directly book with the host. You cannot do this on Airbnb's platform to directly book, but you can use our system to do it. Find the URL of the Airbnb listing and paste it to our WhatsApp's number, and we will find the contact details of that host for you.
